{Garbage In - Garbage Out}

Although I'm very aware that this blog post will not be appealing to all the eyes that may read it - The Lord has laid it on my heart to press on & write it anyhow. So, I'm praying that those who may be offended by my post can just take it as The Lord pricking {convicting} their heart {as He did mine} rather than taking offense & being angry at the words below...

Garbage In - Garbage Out ....

Most of us have heard this saying many times. A lot of the time - as children - it comes from our parents or guardian who have raised us.

What about now - as adults? Did we really take that saying in as a child? Probably not to heart ... are you teaching this to your children now? Are you practicing what you preach?

Garbage In - Garbage Out .... Hmmmm ....

If The Lord (in flesh) decided to knock on your door this evening after you came home from work .... you go to the door to see who it is, look through the peep hole and realize it is your Heavenly Father .... would you panic? Would your heart drop? Would you feel the need to hide something? A wine bottle opener? The beer in the fridge - in case He wanted something cold to drink? Something recorded on DVR - in case He got a hold of the remote? Would you hide a magazine or book that had been sitting out? A not so modest outfit you wore last night? A receipt from a bar you went to? Etc. Etc. Etc.

What would make you panic? What would you not want Him to see?

The funny thing is - we all probably have at least one thing. I know I do. But, the fact is .... He is with us now - He knows all, sees all, hears all, etc. - why are we allowing those things {of the world} to be in our homes anyways? He knows they are there without physically being in your home and looking ......................

If He showed up (physically) at the movie theatre to sit by you at the last movie you went to see - would you shutter to have him watch the things you were watching? Would you leave because of the things He might see next?

Our eyes take in images that our minds cannot erase. As do our ears take in things we choose to listen to that cannot be unheard....

{Philippians 4:8}
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things"

What are our standards for ourselves? What are they for our children? What are we allowing them to see and hear? What standards are we setting for them, for their future choices that they will make on their own?

{Proverbs 22:6}
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

If something is on your mind right now that you are thinking of because of what you've just read ... let it go ... if you wondering whether it is worldly or not ... let it go ... if you are convicted about something you are drinking, reading, watching, listening to ... LET IT GO ...

{Romans 12:2}
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

{Matthew 5:14}
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."

Give the worldly things to God... we should be the LIGHT of the world... set apart from the things of this world...

Challenging you {as I'm challenging myself} to be set apart from this world, to shine for our Heavenly Father & be the light He tells us to be. Not just today, but until we meet Him.

  1. Love this. It is convicting! Even those of us who strive to do our best often let little things creep in that need to be taken care of so that we don't lose sight of our purpose and who we are Christ!

  2. And so we can be effective for Christ. Sin renders us ineffective if not confessed!

  4. Well said! I agree completely...another aspect of this is that some people think their bad habits won't affect their children, or will go unnoticed. However, it has been said that your kids will not only copy those habits, but take them to the next level! My testimony in front of my kids keeps me on my toes!!!! I try to watch every little comment, every little attitude, every little "hissy fit" when I don't get my way...and I can't forget the most important thing: I PRAY CONSTANTLY for wisdom in teaching them. It's often humbling.

  5. Mrs. Williams.. I couldn't agree more. It is so important to pray for wisdom in raising our children. And I also agree on them taking it to the next level.. that's why I'm checking rather be "strict" & "shelter" my children as this world becomes more and more evil. Thanks for your comment! ;)
